Among the artistic sports court projects we undertake, one topic frequently comes up: the basketball court on Rue Duperré in Pigalle (75009).
"The most beautiful basketball court in Paris" (Telerama), "The colorful and sublime basketball court on Rue Duperré" (Huffington Post), etc. Hundreds of articles talk only about it. It is at the center of all attention, and not just in French media.
The Story of the Pigalle Court
Enclosed between two large buildings, it was used until 2007 as a parking lot for an adjacent high school.
Its renovation by Nike and Stephane Ashpool began in 2009. The site was subject to a petition due to noise pollution. It was closed six years later amidst the Vigipirate security plan.
In 2015, Ill Studio was invited to redesign it. A recycled rubber surface now absorbs noise. Furthermore, its color scheme became more vibrant. The court no longer attracts only players. Many people come to photograph it and share it widely on social media.
In 2017 and 2019, the court was completely redesigned. These creations are temporary and continue to generate buzz!
This court was featured alongside the Louvre Museum in a promotional video. This video from the City of Paris was for its bid for the 2024 Olympic Games.
