The town of Blois called on PALM teams to improve safety and enhance the surroundings of three schools through artistic intervention on roadways. Eight sensitive areas (crossroads, crosswalks, cycle paths, etc.) were treated as part of an active design project.
Inspired by the principles of tactical urban planning, this artistic signage visually identifies different traffic areas and encourages users to adopt more attentive, calmer behavior. Thanks to bright colors, clear shapes and a layout designed with all users in mind, each murals transforms the urban environment into a tool for raising awareness.
The results speak for themselves:
- 65% of parents claim to have reduced their speed around schools
- 69% believe that two-way cycling is now more identifiable
- 76% believe that the safety of children, pedestrians and cyclists has been improved
- And more than 95% think that these decorations make the street more attractive.
To ensure the durability of the work, the painted surfaces were coated with an anti-slip varnish suitable for road surfaces, to avoid any risk of slipping. This type of intervention, which combines urban art and safety, is part of a concrete approach to improving the quality of life in the city. PALM is proud to contribute to this evolution in the use of public space, where aesthetics become a lever for transforming behavior.
